Nobel prize in medicine awarded to trio for discovering brain's 'GPS'


i. The Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine has been awarded to three scientists who discovered the brain's GPS system. British-American researcher John O'Keefe and a Norwegian couple, Edvard Moser and May-Britt Moser share the award. 
ii. They discovered how the brain knows where we are and is able to navigate from one place to another. Their findings may help explain why in Alzheimer's disease patients cannot recognise their surroundings.

About Mars Orbiter Mission =====================



ISRO Created history as THE INDIAN Mangalyaan has been successfully inserted into Mars' orbit.

With the success of MOM, India has joined the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), European Space Agency and the former Soviet Union in the elite club of Martian explorers.
ISRO become only the 4th space agency which has successfully launched a Mars mission
MOM is Mars Orbiter Mission.
Witness: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were at ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bangalore to witness the crucial Mars Orbiter Insertion
ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan personally led the team of 14 top space scientists in this mission and worked on it for 15 month.
More than 200 space scientists were in the control room monitoring even the minutest details of the Mars Mission's final phase.
COST: The Rs 450 crore mission is one of the cheapest one and costs even less than Hollywood sci-fi film 'Gravity'.
MORE; The Mars Orbiter Mission, India's 1st interplanetary mission, was launched by India's workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle(PSLV) from the spaceport of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on November 5, 2013.
